Gary Neville has revealed he is “genuinely disappointed” over the impending departure of Angel Di Maria from Manchester United.
Di Maria went through a poor campaign at Man United last term and eventually lost his place in the starting XI to Ashley Young.
The Argentine international has been heavily linked with a €65m switch to Paris Saint-Germain in recent days and the reports have intensified following Di Maria’s failure to link up with United on their pre-season tour of the United States.
Neville expressed his disappointment over Di Maria’s potential exit after initially getting exciting about his arrival:
I was genuinely delighted with the Di Maria signing. I'm genuinely disappointed how it's turning out.

Neville’s concern over Di Maria’s situation has summed up the feeling of the majority of United’s fanbase, who had high hopes for the Argentine upon his arrival at Old Trafford.
During Sir Alex Ferguson‘s tenure at the club, Neville saw a number of fallouts between player and manager which led to the departures of David Beckham, Roy Keane and others. As such, the former England international will understand that Di Maria’s refusal to join United’s tour leaves him with only one way out.
In any case, losing a player of Di Maria’s quality is a blow for United, who will look to bring in a replacement as soon as possible.
