Frans Hoek has tipped Victor Valdes to take the next step in his career by leaving Manchester United and finding ‘a great team’
The Spanish international was widely expected to fill the goalkeeper’s position at Man United, should David de Gea leave the club, but now looks to be set for a move away from Old Trafford.
Despite an impressive performance against Hull City at the end of last season, the 33-year-old was omitted from Man United’s pre-season tour following his refusal to play with the U21s, something which led Louis van Gaal to put him up for sale.
Speaking about the player’s future, Hoek has spoken of Valdes’ talent and his desire to see the Spaniard find another great club.
He said: “I don’t want to talk about negative things. Valdes is a great goalkeeper and I am sure he will find a great team this season.”
Many United fans may be disappointed to hear of Valdes’ imminent departure from Old Trafford, with many believing he would have represented a solid and immediate replacement for De Gea if he left.
However, any player that refuses a manager’s orders has no place at the club and Van Gaal has been quick to ensure Valdes knows he has no future in Manchester.
Regardless of Valdes’ future, United fans will hope that a replacement for the Champions League winner can be drafted in before United host Tottenham Hotspur on the August.
