Nicolas Otamendi will be staying at Valencia this summer despite interest from Manchester United, according to SuperDeporte.
However, it appears he has committed his future to Valencia, who will continue to make him feel ‘loved and valued’ at the Mestalla.
Top class centre-backs are hard to come by and it is unclear who United may go for now that Otamendi has ruled out a move.
After having a £28m bid for Sergio Ramos rejected by Real Madrid, the chances of United signing a quality defender is looking more and more unlikely.
Otamendi has been a rock for Valencia and Argentina, he’s not injury prone and he’s definitely not afraid to put a tackle in.
With David de Gea’s future in the balance, United would be wise to do all they can to sign the 27-year-old. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are both susceptible to injury and can’t be relied upon next season.
