Manchester United’s move for Pedro Rodriguez has accelerated very quickly over the last two weeks and the Barcelona winger is widely considered to be the club’s replacement for Angel di Maria, who is close to joining Paris St Germain.
However, it looks like Man United might have to wait a little bit longer than anticipated to complete a deal for Pedro.
Barcelona are involved in the UEFA Super Cup final on August 11 against Sevilla and thanks to an extended summer break for Lionel Messi and Neymar, who both participated in the Copa America, Marca are reporting that the Spanish side are concerned over their fitness.
Due to that, Barcelona are believed to want Pedro to remain at the club until after the final so that they are not left without any attacking options, just in case Neymar and Messi aren’t able to play.
In an ideal world, Louis van Gaal would have wanted to sign Pedro before the start of the season so that he can settle in straight away but it doesn’t look like that will be the case.
Of course, as the transfer window doesn’t close until the start of September, there is plenty of time left for Barcelona to delay any movc for Pedro if they wanted to.
