Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid. Will he stay or will he go? Reports earlier this week from Marca in Spain suggested he had already agreed a deal to keep him at the club until 2020.
However, Cadena SER are refuting those claims. They say Ramos is still interested in leaving Madrid and that Manchester United are his preferred destination.
The report also goes on to say that the 29-year-old was unhappy with rumours that he has agreed a new contract with Madrid.
The same report from Cadena SER also states that Madrid President Florentino Perez has told Ramos he will not be allowed to leave the club unless his buyout clause, which stands at €180 million. Small change then.
Unfortunately for Man United fans, wherever Ramos is concerned, so is David De Gea. Louis van Gaal added fuel to the already burning fire by stating that his goalkeeper ‘maybe wants to go‘ to Real Madrid, after their 2-0 loss to PSG.
United have been adamant that any deal for De Gea must include Ramos and if Cadena SER’s reports are to be believed, then both parties would be better off with players moving both ways.
It should be noted that Cadena SER go on to say the most likely outcome is Ramos staying at Madrid, but they’ve certainly helped the speculation continue.
This saga looks set to drag on for the remainder of the transfer window. Every summer there are players who United are linked with who end up being nothing but a lot of hot air and, so far, Ramos has been precisely that.
