Timothy Fosu-Mensah scored his first ever goal for Manchester United’s U21s this week with a superbly taken left-footed effort against Stockport County.
Taking the ball on the edge of the box, Fosu-Mensah confidently stroked a perfect shot right into the top corner of the net to give the goalkeeper no chance.
The Dutch teenager has been in the spotlight this week after signing a professional contract with the club having had an excellent debut season with Man United’s U18s last year following a move from Ajax in the summer.
For those who watch him, it’s not hard to see why there is so much excitement around him. He’s got power, pace, strength, versatility and a physicality way beyond his peers in terms of maturity. He stands out like a sore thumb in all the right ways.
He can score goals at one end and make perfectly timed tackles at the other. In every respect, he has got the attributes to be an excellent box-to-box midfielder of the future.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on his progress this year with the U21s and hopefully he can enjoy another strong season at United.
