The report states that Young has been offered a three-year deal with an option of a further year, which would see the winger extend his stay at Old Trafford until 2019.
The terms are expected to be similar to his current deal, which expires in a years time.
Young has had somewhat of a resurgence under Louis van Gaal, with the Stevenage-born winger scoring two goals and assisting five last year, leading to him usurping the likes of Angel Di Maria in the starting XI.
There is no doubt that it is pleasing to see the 30-year-old rewarded for his efforts last season. The former Aston Villa winger was at times crucial for United last term and consistently showed fans that he always puts in 100% for the club.
However, many fans will still feel that United need to bring in a higher calibre of player if they are to become genuine title contenders. While Young provides a fantastic rotation option, there have been numerous calls by supporters to recruit the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo or Marco Reus.
Despite the majority of these targets being wholly unrealistic, it does capture the feel of many United fans, who believe that a game changer in the mould of Bale or Ronaldo is necessary if the club is to become a global force once again.
