Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has backed Pedro to excel at Manchester United, saying he has the “ability to play in any team in the world.”
Pedro, who enjoyed huge success with Guardiola, is reportedly close to moving to Old Trafford.
The winger is set to play his farewell game for Barcelona tomorrow in the Gamper Trophy before making his way to Manchester.
Guardiola has insisted that the 28-year-old will shine in the Premier League.
“Pedro has played millions of games for Barcelona…so that shows the quality he has,” he said.
“He is a world champion; he is a European champion; he has won the Champions League and many league titles. There is no doubt about his quality and he has the ability to play in any team in the world.”
When it comes to judges of talent, there aren’t many better than a man who won 14 trophies with Barcelona in just four years.
Guardiola, who managed Pedro at Barcelona B before taking him to the first-team, has played a huge role in nurturing the Spaniard into a complete footballer. Joining the Barcelona set-up in 2004, the much acclaimed Barcelona philosophy is engrained into Pedro’s playing style.
Laced with an incredible work rate and efficiency on the ball, Pedro’s game is underpinned by his versatility, adaptability and pace with the ball at his feet. His addition to a lethargic Man United attack would prove to be a shrewd purchase.
