Angel di Maria explains why he’s delighted to leave Manchester United for Paris St Germain

Angel di Maria is delighted to be joining Paris St-Germain and showed no signs of regret to be moving away from Manchester United.

The Argentinian winger is expected to finalise his move to PSG this week having undergone a medical at a private facility in Doha.

Despite being a dismal failure at Man United, Di Maria insisted he will give his all to PSG like he did in his previous clubs, a statement which is more than questionable.

“I am happy because PSG wanted me to come here and that makes me very happy,” Di Maria said.

“After that, I will try to do things the best I can and will try to work hard and give it all I can like I have done in other clubs.

“I hope things go well and that we can win many titles. I know PSG won everything last season and every title and that is important for a big club.

“They reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective is to arrive in Paris and help them through the quarter-final barrier, which they have struggled to do in the past two seasons.

“I will try to do the best I can to help the club reach those objectives and pass the barrier of the quarter-finals of the Champions League.”

If Di Maria really considers his efforts last season for United as ‘giving his all’, then PSG are in for an extremely unpleasant and expensive surprise.

After the momentum disappeared from Di Maria’s excellent start at United in the first six games, he never seemed fully committed to getting that form back and so it proved as his season fizzled out into nothing.

Di Maria should have busted a gut to repay the club who paid £59.7m to bring him to Manchester but instead he dragged his heels and will be walking out of the exit door this summer with his tail firmly between his legs.

Lots of foreign players struggle in the Premier League during their first season but instead of seeing it as a challenge he wanted to take on in Manchester, Di Maria decided to up ship and move to play football in the far more comfortable environment of France.

His family’s unhappiness no doubt played a part in his decision after their house was burgled but Marcos Rojo managed to settle, even with damaging claims he was embroiled a cheating cover-up, so that can’t be used as the sole excuse for leaving as that is too convenient.

Di Maria was supposed to be a blockbuster signing who helped push United back towards the title but instead he acted like an expensive parachute, holding the club back, and one which we will be much better off without next season.
