Anders Lindegaard told he can leave Manchester United

Manchester United have informed goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard he can leave the club on a free transfer according to a recent report.

The Danish goalkeeper has sat patiently and quietly on Man United’s bench for more than one season now but will not become No.1 any time soon, so a move away is certainly the right move for him.

David de Gea continues to be linked with a move away from the club while Victor Valdes is set to depart also, which would leave United with Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone if Lindegaard left as well.

Lindegaard signed from Aalesund FK  for €5 million in 2010 but despite a run of appearances in the side when De Gea was injured, he was unable to forge a career for himself at Old Trafford thanks to the Spaniard’s meteoric rise.

His departure for the club is long overdue considering his agent has previously made it clear he was looking for a new team to join, but up until this point he hasn’t found the right place to move.

Lindegaard will be a top goalkeeper for a lot of teams but it just hasn’t worked out for him at United.
