The goodbyes continue to flood in for Rafael da Silva as he departs Manchester United for Lyon for a fee believed to be in the region of £2 million.
The Brazilian right-back has had a very busy time recently responding to all the good luck messages from former team-mates, members of staff and fans alike as he bid farewell to Man United.
It is apparent that Rafael was a real fans’ favourite and will be missed by everyone in England that he had contact with. The Brazilian joined the club along with his twin brother Fabio in 2008 and was one of the most loyal players to have played for United in recent years.
He featured 109 times for United and scored five goals, winning three Premier League titles along the way and also featured in two Champions League finals during his spell at the club.

Juan Mata is one of the most recent players to have wished the 25-year-old luck in his latest adventure in France.
Mata plays mostly on the right side of United’s midfield and will most certainly miss Rafael’s intensity moving forward from the right-back position.
There will be a period of transition for United this year as they become accustomed to new signing Matteo Darmian playing at right-back but seeing as Antonio Valencia was preferred to Rafael, any forward movement will be an improvement.
Rafael’s such a loveable player both on and off the pitch and Lyon have got themselves a cracking new right-back, so here’s hoping he can put his injury problems behind him and get back to the 2011/12 Rafael who was one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.
