Memphis Depay given No.9 in new Man United training kit

Manchester United still haven’t officially released the new kit numbers for next season but have they revealed who the new No.9 is?

Memphis Depay wore No.9 throughout the pre-season and was given the same number in the new Adidas training gear back in Manchester this week.

Training numbers do not officially confirm players’ numbers but every player who currently has a squad number wore the correct training kit which correlated to that.

Surely if No.9 wasn’t Memphis’ number then he would simply have worn a blank kit? Maybe that’s too simple a solution.

This morning, we asked our readers who they wanted to get the fabled No.7 shirt and with just over 1500 votes so far, Memphis is leading the way with 61% of the vote but maybe No.9 is what he’ll be getting.

As soon as he joined the club, Memphis said he saw himself as a striker because he loves scoring goals, so could he be seen by Louis van Gaal as one of his striker options.

With just over two days until the game against Tottenham Hotspur kicks off, it won’t be long until the squad numbers are officially released and we’ll all find out who United’s new No.7 and No.9 shirt holders are.
