Januzaj barely featured for Man United last season after enjoying a breakthrough campaign under David Moyes the year before.
Sunderland are fully aware of this and are hopeful of securing a season-long loan deal for the Belgian. Everton are also said to be monitoring the situation.
However, Barcelona’s Pedro is reportedly close to signing for United which could limit Januzaj’s involvement in the first-team further.
Danny Welbeck and Jonny Evans both established themselves at United following successful loan spells with Sunderland in the past and Januzaj is more than capable of making a similar impact.
Although Sunderland will likely face a relegation battle next term, Januzaj would undoubtedly play week in, week out. It wouldn’t be the worst idea but hopefully van Gaal gives him a chance to prove himself for United in the first few weeks of the season first.
