Barcelona’s new technical secretary has admitted Pedro could leave the Spanish club but also insisted that they want him to stay.
The Spanish winger has been linked with a move to Manchester United for a number of weeks following a frustrating campaign at Barcelona.
Pedro’s mother recently threw fuel on the fire when she suggested that her son was on the way to Old Trafford and speculation has only increased since then.
Barcelona’s new technical secretary, Robert Fernandez, has admitted that Pedro could leave the club and that it is a “risky” situation.
“[Pedro] has a release clause of €30m, and we are waiting for someone to make the offer,” he said.
“His performance level is fantastic and the coach and we like him. We do not want him to go, but we know this is a risky situation, and we have to wait.”
“We will remain firm on the clause, but I say again that I have my doubts that this will happen. In fact at the moment we are not thinking about the possibility of Pedro leaving.”
Pedro could prove to be the signing of the summer for Man United if he can replicate his best Barcelona form in the Premier League. United are short of strikers, which means that a large chunk of goals will have to come from the creative and attacking midfielders.
Pedro’s speed will be a welcome addition to the side after the failed impact of Angel di Maria last season. In today’s market, €30m is not a large transfer fee for a player who has proven experience at the highest level.
