Angel di Maria has insisted his the reasons behind his decision to join Paris St-Germain was shaped by more than just what he wanted to do.
The writing was on the wall for Di Maria’s exit from Manchester United ever since he was not on the plane to USA when he was supposed to be.
Now, Di Maria has addressed the French press for the first time since joining and has suggest it was just him who pushed for a move away but instead said it was the collective wish of all parties involved – PSG, Di Maria and United.
Di Maria’s claims are in complete contrast to Louis van Gaal‘s previous comments as the United boss said he wanted to keep him at the club but accepted there were no guarantees it would happen. Who do we believe? After backtracking on his desire to stay at United, we don’t think Di Maria’s recent track record helps him in this situation.
Di Maria on leaving MUFC: "It was not only my decision. If I am here, it is because they wanted to sell me. All 3 parties wanted the move."

As far as disappointing transfers go, they don’t come much bigger than Di Maria. He arrived for a club record fee, started off so well and filled fans with excitement that a new No.7 worthy of the shirt had finally arrived.
Yet, fans are now happy to see the back of him because of his poor attitude and commitment. It’s funny how things change but that’s football for you.
Di Maria will probably thrive in Ligue 1 given how poor the league is overall but regardless of what he does in France this season, selling him was the correct decision.
