Ashley Young has signed a new contract at Manchester United which will keep him at Old Trafford until at least 2018 with the option to extend for a further year.
Young has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround in form after often being the butt of jokes last summer.
A number of fans called for the Englishman to be sold but he ended up being one of Man United’s standout players last term as they secured Champions League football.
It goes to show just how well he did that he kept club record signing Angel di Maria out of the starting XI.
Young’s new contract is richly deserved and he will hoping to kick on in the coming campaign.
His place in the team has been threatened by the arrival of Memphis Depay but he should have plenty of opportunities to impress, starting with the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
