Are Manchester United keeping the No.9 shirt open for Pedro?

Manchester United unveiled their squad numbers on Friday to much fanfare but there weren’t too many surprises in the announcement.

Memphis Depay was given the No.7 shirt and Bastian Schweinsteiger No.31. Perhaps Victor Valdes’ exclusion from the list came as the biggest shock.

However, the lack of a No.9 was a glaring omission and one that may hint at Man United’s plans in the transfer market.

Barcelona forward Pedro has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford and it is not too far fetched to say that United are keeping the No.9 free for him.

Pedro 4

The Spaniard is a supremely talented player but goes somewhat under the radar at Barcelona due to the brilliance of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

It is safe to say the signing of Pedro would go down well with fans as United are lacking in terms of real attacking depth.

A front three of Wayne Rooney, Memphis and Pedro would cause all sorts of problems for opposition defences. The hope is that Pedro fills the No.9 shirt sooner rather than later.
