Barcelona’s Lionel Messi: I don’t know where Pedro’s future lies

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has admitted that he has no idea where Pedro will be playing his football next season.

Pedro has been linked with a move to Manchester United for much of the summer due to a lack of game time last season.

Barcelona were successful in winning three trophies last term but Pedro did not see as many minutes on the pitch as he might have liked thanks to the brilliance of Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

The saga was inflamed further yesterday when new Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez told reporters that Pedro had informed him he did not want to play at the Camp Nou next year.

Speaking about the situation, Messi said: ”Personally, I don’t know what Pedro is going to decide but we’ll support him whatever he does. We wish him the best as he has delivered – and is still delivering – for Barcelona.

“He deserves the best. I don’t know what his decision will be but whatever it is, he’ll have my support.”

With his teammates giving him their full support, there is a chance that Pedro could be persuaded to stay at Barcelona next year.

However, the Spaniard cannot realistically expect to see much action next term. This would not be the case at United and Louis van Gaal will undoubtedly hand him a starring role at Old Trafford.
