Manchester United are not interested in Lucas Biglia despite recent speculation linking the Argentinian with a move to Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports.
Biglia, who plies his trade with Lazio in Serie A, is a 29-year-old defensive midfielder and seemed an odd transfer target for Man United as they have already brought in Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Biglia reportedly wants to leave Lazio in order to earn more money and a move to United would almost certainly assure him of that.
However, United are not in for the player and will instead focus on the David de Gea situation and their attacking options.
United have issues at the heart of their defence and up front and bringing in a player like Biglia would not make sense. There was a belief that Louis van Gaal wanted Biglia to play as a central defender who could play the ball out from the back but that seems far-fetched.
Van Gaal and Ed Woodward conducted business quietly and concisely at the beginning of the window and had even wrapped up the Memphis Depay deal before the window opened but the latter stages of the summer have been sloppy.
With the season in full swing, a consistent XI is the next point of call for van Gaal and it seems the sooner the window closes the better for United at this point.
