Sergio Ramos’ flirtations with a move to Manchester United immediately perked up a voice at the back of every fans’ mind – was he using the club to secure a more lucrative contract with Real Madrid?
After months of rumours, reports and ambiguous comments from all parties involved, it looks like Ramos has indeed signed a new deal with the Spanish side.
Ramos’ frustrations in Madrid were based around the fact he wanted €10m per year but was only being offered €8m.
However, an agreement has been reached which will now see Ramos stay at Madrid and put an end to the rumours linking him with a move to Old Trafford.

United fans will not be even the slightest bit surprised that this transfer saga has developed into Ramos signing a new deal.
That being said, it doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of fans who are frustrated that yet another player has been able to use United’s name to garner interest, generate backlash among Madrid’s fans and earn himself a bumper pay rise.
Ramos isn’t the first player to use that tactic and unfortunately, given the size of United, it’s very unlikely he will be the last.
