Luis Enrique has insisted that Pedro’s future lies in his own hands as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
Pedro has seen his first-team opportunities limited due to the brilliance of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
He is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal will give him the starring role he craves.
Enrique insisted he wants the Spaniard to stay but admitted that it is down to Pedro whether he leaves or not.
“We’ve heard his opinions, it’s a difficult decision that he has to make but we’ll wait and see what he decides,” Enrique said.
“He wants to leave because he’s not getting minutes but we want to give him minutes so it’s a difficult situation. I certainly want him to stay.
“I’m looking forward to the end of the transfer market so I’ll know exactly what I do have.
“I don’t want to get drawn into controversies, we all understand Pedro’s situation, he’s always someone the Barca fans will love because of his personality and his performances on the pitch.”
Pedro could be just what United are looking for but his indecision could disrupt United’s plans. Van Gaal will be keen to establish a settled squad as quickly as possible now that the season has started.
Players like Adnan Januzaj, for instance, cannot be sure of their place in the squad because the arrival of Pedro would throw that up in the air. A decision needs to be made on Pedro by the player or the club and it needs to happen soon so United can get on with challenging for domestic and European honours.
