Sunderland close in on Adnan Januzaj loan – report

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj is close to completing a season-loan move to Sunderland, according to MailOnline.

The report states that the deal is dependent on Man United completing the signing of Barcelona’s Pedro.

Sunderland are also expected to bring in Liverpool striker Fabio Borini on a short-term deal.

Januzaj struggled for first-team opportunities last term under Louis van Gaal and he would see his chances diminished further if Pedro arrived at Old Trafford.

Playing against Premier League defences week in, week out, will do him the world of good.

Danny Welbeck and Jonny Evans have also spent time at the Stadium of Light in the past before establishing themselves at United and the hope is that Januzaj can do the same.

The Belgian’s undoubted talent was there for all to see during his blistering debut season and, at 20-years-old, he still has plenty of time to make himself a success at United. Experiencing life at the lower end of the Premier League table should also give him a much-needed psychological edge.
