Matthew Willock has revealed on Instagram that he has signed a new Manchester United contract.
Willock joined Man United back in 2012 and having worked his way through the U18s, he is now expected to be a key member of Warren Joyce’s U21s side this season.
The announcement of his new contract comes after a swathe of new deals were unveiled this week with Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Josh Harrop and Joel Castro Pereira also revealing they also committed their futures to the club.
Pictured alongside a smiling Ryan Giggs signing his new contract, Willock said he was happy to have extended his contract.
Willock is now the latest youngster who sees Man United as the right place for him to progress his career and it’s a testament to the excellent work Joyce has done with the U21s.
With three titles in the last four years, United’s U21s have an excellent reputation in the competition. It is a shame there isn’t enough competitive football across the whole season but Willock is clearly happy with the current set-up.
As he turns 20 this August, Willock will be looking towards earning himself a loan spell in the next 18 months and it will be interesting to see how he can develop this season.
