Bastian Schweinsteiger eager for Manchester United to maintain momentum

by Sid Choudhary

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is keen for his side to keep their winning momentum into the visit of Club Brugge on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old is looking forward to the return of Champions League football to Old Trafford after Man United’s 100% start to the league season.

Schweinsteiger, who won the Champions League in 2013, came off the bench and impressed in both of United’s league games. He will now be looking to carry over his good form into Europe, where he was key to Bayern Munich’s success in the competition.

The German captain’s experience in Europe is almost unparalleled in the current squad and the impact he could have on the team can not be underestimated. Coming into a team who missed out on European football last time out, Schweinsteiger will be a key man for United on the continent.

The Reds can not afford to miss out on the Champions League for two consecutive years, making the tie against Brugge all the more important.

It could also be the night United fans see Schweinsteiger make his full competitive debut for the club if he starts, something that will excite supporters to no end.
