Whereas last week there was panic in Man United’s side when Tottenham Hotspur pushed in search of an equaliser, Schweinsteiger and Herrera brought a composed and calming presence into United’s side.
They maintained possession, limited Aston Villa’s threat going forward and when necessary they attacked the space in behind Villa’s defence.
There was one stand-out moment from Schweinsteiger which is worth looking at again. His nonchalant yet inch perfect looping through-ball to Wayne Rooney was a touch of class from the midfielder.
It’s still quite hard to comprehend that Schweinsteiger, Bastian Schweinsteiger, is a United player and that’s when he is playing when not fully match fit as a substitute.
Fans now can wait to see how Schweinsteiger gets on at United when he has his match sharpness back and can last the full 90 minutes.
When that happens, a goal from Schweinsteiger won’t be far away and he can join Adnan Januzaj in getting his goal count started for the season.
