Swedish side Halmstad have confirmed 16-year-old Sead Haksabanovic has been on trial with Manchester United this week.
The young midfielder is considered one of Halmstad’s biggest talents in recent times and missed their match against Helsingborg in order to fly to Manchester for the week long training camp.
Halmstad coach Jan Jonsson confirmed the trial had been agreed since pre-season and speaking about the opportunity, Haksabanovic said it was something he was looking forward to.
“I’ll go there and do what I can,” he said.
“Of course it’s a chance for me, but I’m still developing so I see it more as training.”
Haksabanovic revealed he was a Liverpool fan but admitted he was excited at the opportunity of playing with United for a week.
At this stage, United have shown no interest in signing the 16-year-old according to Halmstad’s coach Jonsson.
He said: “Well, so far they haven’t. It’s only this week that has been determined long ago. Then, there will certainly be some interest.”
Plenty of Europe’s top talents come in and out of trials at the club and Haksabanovic is the latest youngster to be given the opportunity.
As Martin Odegaard showed when he sealed his move to Real madrid aged just 16, there are some players who are snapped up very early by Europe’s elite clubs and Haksabanovic will certainly be hoping to catch the eye in Manchester.
