Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney put in yet another uninspiring display, as the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw by Newcastle United.
The Englishman was unlucky to have an early goal chalked off for offside, when replays suggested he had timed his run to perfection.
However, with four games now played in all competitions, Rooney is yet to get off the mark and has struggled to impose himself on any of Man United’s matches thus far.
United supporters are starting to lose patience with their skipper and they made their feelings known after the draw at Old Trafford.
Well that was a dreary match. #MUFC definitely need a striker. Rooney is so much better just behind the front man. #BPL

Rooney could come good and score at any moment, but how long do you give him? Slowly improving but that's not really good enough at the mo.

Wayne Rooney has now gone 858 minutes without a competitive goal for Man United. #MUFC

Would Herrera do any worse than Rooney? I'd think he'd offer more spark and determination. Baffles me why he's left out yet again #mufc

Wayne Rooney, false nine in the truest sense of the phrase.

Van Gaal said Rooney's impotence up front didn't matter if United won. Let's see what he's got to say about him now then.

Rooney completely non existent again.

It is obvious that the pressure is starting to pile on the United striker. After admitting to a poor performance against Aston Villa last week, fans would have been hoping for much more from Rooney.
There did not seem to be much of an improvement in the 29-year-old’s game this week and with such an out of form striker up front, United are really struggling to make the most of their positive build-up play.
