Louis van Gaal doesn’t feel Manchester United need to sign any forwards

Louis van Gaal feels that his Manchester United side do not need to sign a new striker, despite the club’s 0-0 draw against Newcastle.

Having started the season slowly in the attacking sense, Man United have been linked with a large number of forward players. However, the manager insists he is happy with the options he already has at the club.

With Wayne Rooney struggling in the central striker role, many United fans have been hoping the club will look to bring in some new blood and just two goals in their opening three league games this year shows the Reds definitely seem to be lacking in the striker department.

When asked is his side need more forward, Van Gaal responded: “No, because we were three times the better team. We have to dominate the opponent.”

The manager was satisfied with United’s performance against Newcastle in spite of the poor result. Van Gaal’s side dominated possession and had multiple chances to score, yet just could not find the final finishing touch.

After Rooney had an early goal incorrectly disallowed for offside, the skipper struggled to gain a foothold in the game, prompting even more calls for a new striker to come to Old Trafford.

There will be a lot of United fans who disagree with Van Gaal in this situation. Rooney is bang out of form, Chicharito hasn’t found his goalscoring boots and James Wilson has been in the shadows so far this season, all of which has combined to leave United impotent up front.

It doesn’t matter how much United dominate games, it is irrelevant if there isn’t a striker ready at the end of it to make the most of the chance and that’s the frustrating situation United currently find themselves in.
