Manchester United have announced an 18-man squad has travelled to Belgium for the game against Club Brugge on Wednesday night.
David de Gea has once again been left out of the squad by David de Gea with his future still unresolved but Marouane Fellaini comes back in as he is not suspended for the Champions League (plus, that three match ban has been served now).
Ander Herrera will be desperate to start for Man United having had to settle for substitute appearances only so far this season.
Here is the squad in full: Romero, Johnstone; Blind, Darmian, McNair, Shaw, Smalling; Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Mata, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Young; Hernandez, Januzaj, Memphis, Rooney
It does seem strange that United are travelling with only an 18-man squad because there is always the risk of unexpected injuries cropping up. Hopefully there won’t be any issues.
The De Gea situation has rumbled on all summer but still shows no signs of being resolved right now. However, with less than ten days left in the transfer window, there will be a solution sooner rather than later.
With a 3-1 lead, United have the upper hand in this Champions League qualifier and know that a draw would be enough to secure a spot in the group stage.
