Man Utd transfer roundup: Besiktas close in on Victor Valdes

by Ben Topliss

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

It looks like Victor Valdes will finally be on his way out of Man United after Turkish Football claimed on Tuesday that Besiktas have reached an agreement with the Spanish goalkeeper. Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also said to be interested but Besiktas are the frontrunners.

After he refused to play for the U21s, Valdes’ exit was inevitable this summer but United have left it a little bit late.

Man United have reportedly launched a highly ambitious bid for Barcelona forward Neymar but their hopes of signing him have taken a blow.

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu insisted that the Spanish club “don’t want Neymar to leave at all” and that they will begin contract negotiations in a “few months’ time”.

A much more attainable target for Louis van Gaal may be Everton’s John Stones, who has handed in a formal transfer request amid fierce speculation over where his future lies.

Elsewhere, Philipp Lahm had his say on the rumours linking Thomas Muller with a move to Old Trafford.

According to the veteran, Muller “lives for Bayern Munich” and Lahm dismissed the notion that he will leave the club this summer.
