Manchester United’s emphatic 7-1 aggregate victory over Club Brugge was more than enough to secure a place in the Champions League group stages.
After a one year absence, Man United are back in the Champions League where they belong but unlike previous years, they know a tricky group stage game could happen thanks to the pot system.
United’s absence from the Champions League for a season means they have been pushed into Pot 2 rather than Pot 1 where they always are.

United could potentially draw Barcelona, Shakhtar Donetsk and Wolfsburg in the same group. Alternatively it could be PSV, Olympiakos and Gent. So, there is plenty of variety in the draw and some real danger games, especially current holders Barcelona.
The draw is live this afternoon at 16:45 GMT and we’ll bring you news of United’s opponents as soon as the draw happens.
