Herrera made his first start of the season as Man United cruised to a 4-0 win and he even got himself on the scoresheet with a calm finish in the second half.
Beginning the game in a holding midfield role, the Spaniard struggled in the first half.
However, a switch to a three man midfield and a role further forward proved to be the turning point for Herrera, who turned on the style in the second half.
“He [Herrera] played a very good game and scored a great goal. Obviously we understand each other very well on and off the pitch and I’m very happy as well,” Mata said.
Herrera shone when played in a more advanced role and will be hoping to get the chance to do so from the start against the Swans. United will be looking to bounce back in the Premier League following a disappointing 0-0 draw at home with Newcastle United last week and Herrera could be crucial to their chances on Sunday.
