Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has sung the praises of the team’s fans who travelled to Belgium to watch the Reds beat Club Brugge 4-0.
Man United qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League after a stunning display in Brugge and Mata had a huge part to play in the team’s success.
The Spaniard bagged an assist for Wayne Rooney‘s third goal and has thanked the fans for their incredible support away on the continent.
“The fans who travelled to Belgium were amazing,” he said.
“We won for them and we know how many supporters will travel for us in the away games in the Champions League so we’ll try to do it for them again.”
Mata is delighted to be back in Europe’s premier club competition but he is remaining focused on the task at hand.
He added: “It’s the best competition to play in and I’ve been lucky enough to win it once and it’s amazing. Last season it was difficult to watch the games; now we have the chance to enjoy it.
“But while we are happy about that, it’s now time to think about the next game on Sunday. From now on we want to win every game in the Premier League.”
United need to bounce back in the league after a disappointing 0-0 draw at home with Newcastle last time out. Mata will be hoping he can carry his new-found good form into the game against Swansea.
