Manchester United and Real Madrid open last ditch talks over sale of David de Gea – report

Manchester United and Real Madrid have opened last ditch talks over the sale of David de Gea, according to AS.

Man United have played hardball over the potential exit of the Spaniard all summer long but it appears they have relaxed their stance in the past few days.

Madrid only have until midnight tonight to complete a deal for De Gea as that is when the Spanish transfer window shuts.

United are said to be keen on Madrid’s Keylor Navas as a replacement for De Gea but the Costa Rican is reluctant to leave the Bernabeu. This may hold up the potential deal.

At the start of the window, it looked like De Gea would definitely be going to Real Madrid but United fans started to entertain the prospect that he would stay in the past few weeks.

However, it looks like both clubs are now open to reaching an agreement.

If De Gea does leave, it would be disastrous if they didn’t get Navas or another replacement in. Sergio Romero has looked far from convincing for United in the absence of De Gea and he was at fault for Swansea City’s winning goal in the 2-1 defeat on Sunday.
