New Manchester United signing Anthony Martial has revealed he is “so excited” about moving to Old Trafford.
Martial has joined Man United on a four-year contract with the option to extend for a further year in a deal rumoured to be worth at least £36m.
It is a lot of money for a 19-year-old but United must have done their homework if they were prepared to spend so much on him.
Martial was delighted with his move but thanked former side Monaco for their role in his development.
“I am so excited to be joining Manchester United. I have enjoyed my time at AS Monaco and I would like to thank them and the fans for everything they have done for me,” he said.
“I have always wanted to play in the Premier League and to join the biggest club in the world is what every young footballer dreams of. I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and working with Louis van Gaal who has achieved so much in his career.”
There were no rumours surrounding Martial whatsoever until a few days ago and the transfer has progressed rapidly.
Whether he likes it or not, the Frenchman will have huge pressure from his shoulders from day one at Old Trafford. Paying so much money for such a young player is bound to raise eyebrows. Louis van Gaal will be keen to bed Martial in ahead of a tough introduction to Premier League football.
