Bastian Schweinsteiger put in a very good performance in Germany’s 3-2 win over Scotland on Monday night. Playing from a deeper midfield role, Schweinsteiger dictated most of the game in what was a very commanding 90 minutes. (Click here for a more detailed look at how he played).
Morgan Schneiderlin also clocked up a full 90 minutes in France’s game against Serbia which they won 2-1. After he played only 45 minutes against Portugal last week, it showed that Didier Deschamps wanted to bring him back into the team.
Also played in a deeper midfield role like Schweinsteiger did for Germany, so it will be interesting to see who plays in that position against Liverpool even if Michael Carrick isn’t ruled out.
Anthony Martial was also in action for France and made his second late cameo appearance of the international break. Showed some real pace, power and intent in his short time on the pitch. Will be coming back to Manchester with a big smile on his face because of those two games, and the fact he’ll be starting his Manchester United career.
James Wilson and Paddy McNair were both unused substitute’s in their respective England’s U21s game against Norway and Northern Ireland’s fixture against Hungary.
