David de Gea has told the Spanish press he is happy with his current situation at Manchester United and glad to be back playing football.
The Spanish goalkeeper made his first competitive appearance of the season in Spain’s win over Macedonia on Tuesday night.
He kept a clean sheet in an uneventful night and Man United fans will be wondering if De Gea is going to come straight back into the starting XI against Liverpool.
Speaking to reporters after Spain’s win, De Gea thanked everyone at United and looked ahead to the future: “The coach has given me a lot of confidence and I am grateful to everyone,” he said to TVE.
“I am calm, I’ll keep improving and I keep working. Enjoy the football is what I like. I am happy.”
It was an extremely long and tedious summer for United fans thanks to De Gea’s saga going on for the whole transfer window but now that has passed, attention can be focused on the Spaniard getting back in goal and doing what he does best in a United shirt.
