David de Gea‘s agent Jorge Mendes is at Manchester United’s training ground this afternoon as the saga surrounding his future at the club continues.
The goalkeeper’s expected move to Real Madrid collapsed at the last minute and there have been rumours that Mendes’ relationship with Madrid president Florentino Perez has subsequently soured after the deadline day failure to finalise a deal.
So, it is interesting to see Mendes is at Carrington where he will presumably speak with United officials over De Gea’s future.
As it stands, De Gea is a United player for at least the upcoming campaign. Man United managed to keep him at the club and Madrid are not expected to make a move for him in the January transfer window.

Despite the deal collapsing, De Gea’s future at United is far from secure and he is still widely expected to move to Madrid at some point in the future, so United’s priority this year is now to convince him to sign a new deal.
That will be a very complicated, if not implausible, task but one which Ed Woodward will no doubt pursue.
Regardless of the ongoing talks between Mendes, De Gea and United’s official, all United fans want to see is the Spaniard back in goal. The sooner that happens the better.
