Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has expressed his delight after signing a new contract with the club.
After a summer of huge uncertainty regarding his future, the Spaniard finally put pen to paper on a new deal at Man United on Friday.
De Gea’s deadline day move to Real Madrid could not be completed in time and, with one year left on his deal, it looked like he would be forced to stay at Old Trafford for another year before leaving.
However, he seems to have had a change of heart and has now pledged his future to United.

Madrid were desperate to lure De Gea to the Bernabeu on final day of the Spanish window and it seemed that the 24-year-old would be plying his trade there next season. After the transfer fell through, the goalkeeper was given assurances that he would be well looked after at United.
De Gea has won the club’s Player of the Season award two years in a row and has quickly become a fans’ favourite at Old Trafford with his performances over the past couple of years. United fans will be delighted that he is staying and the former Atletico Madrid man has thanked them for their support.
De Gea will hope to get straight back into the United team for the visit of Liverpool on Saturday, easily the biggest game of the season so far. It would be a huge boost for the Reds, having their No.1 back in goal against their biggest rivals.
