Memphis Depay‘s beautiful curled effort against Club Brugge has been named Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for August.
The Dutchman opened his Man United goalscoring account that night with two excellent goals but they were up against some stiff competition in the Goal of the Month competition.
However, Memphis’ curled and whipped shot from outside the box against Club Brugge at Old Trafford came out on top of the votes.
It’s the first award for Memphis since he joined United and is hopefully the first of many for him.
Memphis has shown plenty of spark in his early appearances for United, in particular his performance against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League play-off at Old Trafford.
He really was electric that night; he had pace and power in abundance but more than anything it was his confidence to drive at defenders at speed with the ball at his feet. That scared defenders and made him such a dangerous player on the night.
Memphis seems to thrive under pressure and United fans are certainly hoping he can put in another man of the match performance in this Saturday when Liverpool pay a visit to Old Trafford.
