De Gea, Mata and Herrera are all neighbours in Manchester and have become a very close trio over the last year, so it’s fantastic that they’ll be staying together.
Fans shouldn’t underestimate how important a player’s happiness is as to how good they will play. You’ve only got to look at Angel di Maria last year to see how it can have such a dramatic effect on the pitch.
United have done so well to not only keep De Gea at the club but get him to sign a new contract. Now, United will dictate what happens with De Gea’s future and Real Madrid have lost any advantage over negotiations for him.
