Manchester United’s pursuit of Thomas Muller this summer ended unsuccessfully with Bayern Munich refusing to sell their poster-boy, yet it hasn’t stopped fans dreaming.
Anthony Martial stole the limelight yesterday with an unbelievable goal on his debut against Liverpool but after Schweinsteiger wished Muller happy birthday today, there was an air of predictability to the responses he’d be sent by United fans.
“Bring him to Manchester!” was the general consensus. Agent Schweinsteiger, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to bring Muller to Old Trafford. No pressure…

In all seriousness, Martial’s debut goal showed how important it is for United to have strikers who can actually find the back of the net and Louis van Gaal has always been a big fan of Muller, so will he try to sign him again in the summer?
A quartet of Wayne Rooney, Muller, Martial and Wilson? That’d be some strike force.
