Martial replaced Juan Mata as a second half substitute, before scoring a sublime solo goal at the Stretford End to help Man United to a 3-1 win over rivals Liverpool.
The 19-year-old completed a deadline day move from Monaco to United for a record fee for a teenager and he is already intent on proving his worth. He could not have chosen a better time to score his first goal for the Reds.
Although he can’t yet speak English, Young doesn’t think he really needs to.
“We’re leaving it up to Morgan Schneiderlin to be the translator, but if he talks like that on the pitch that’s all we need,” Young told Sky Sports.
Spot on Ashley. All Martial needs to do right now is concentrate on his football and let that do the talking.
There’s going to be plenty of adversity and tough times for Martial this season as well as the exuberant highs of scoring on his debut against Liverpool at Old Trafford but he’ll have to be able to deal with that.
If his debut is anything to go by, Martial won’t struggle at all at United.
