Memphis Depay says he will celebrate if he scores for Manchester United against his former team PSV Eindhoven.
The 21-year-old completed the move to Man United this summer after a great season with PSV in which he scored over 20 Eredivisie goals.
There is always discussion over whether players will celebrate against their former clubs and while Memphis holds every respect for PSV, he’ll have no qualms celebrating if he does bag a goal on Tuesday night.
“A lot of people ask me that,” Memphis said when asked if he would celebrate.
“I have respect for PSV but I will celebrate. Football is a game and scoring is special.”
Fair play to Memphis. There are plenty of people who would refrain from celebrating but he obviously feels comfortable straight away in a United shirt, so fans won’t begrudge him for that.
It will be interesting to see the sort of reception he gets from PSV’s home fans in the stadium if he does score though.
Do you think PSV fans will be hostile towards Memphis Depay if he celebrates after scoring?
