Bastian Schweinsteiger all smiles on route to PSV for Champions League clash

Bastian Schweinsteiger, aka Deutsche Fussball Meister, aka Fussball Gott, is all smiles on route to the Netherlands with Manchester United for Tuesday night’s Champions League clash against PSV.

After arguably his best performance in a Man United shirt at the weekend in the 3-1 win over Liverpool, Schweinsteiger will be full of confidence going into the tie.

Having now played all 90 minutes in three consecutive appearances for United (Liverpool) and Germany (Scotland and Poland), Schweinsteiger is getting fitter with every game and his performances are continuing to improve.

His influence on the younger players around him is clear to see as well and he’s becoming more than just a midfielder at the club, he is leading by example.

United will need that sort of figurehead away from home in their first Champions League tie in two years, especially Memphis Depay who may get caught up in the occasion of going straight back to the club where he spent his whole career.

United got a kind draw in the Champions League in comparison to who we could have been drawn against but that shouldn’t take anything away from PSV because they will still be some dangerous opposition.

Schweinsteiger’s experience in the Champions League, having won it with Bayern Munich, will also be invaluable for United on the night, even if he doesn’t play because he can help with advice before the game.
