Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo “dreams” of returning to Manchester United.
The Portuguese forward left Man United in 2009 to join Real Madrid in a deal worth £80m.
Ronaldo has since gone on to break a number of goalscoring records at the Bernabeu and he is now just two short of Raul’s all-time total.
Balague suggested Ronaldo would be keen on moving back to Old Trafford, although he isn’t sure if the move will come off.
“As I have said for months, everything is ready for him to go back. All the finances are in place if he decides to join them. But… in my eyes, it doesn’t make sense at all for him to go back. He is a different player, United is a different club,” Balague said.
“He does dream of going back but I am pretty sure that if given the choice of PSG, another top European club or United, he might realise going back is not the greatest of ideas. He will have to fight with his own shadow. I feel before next summer Ronaldo will have to think about his future carefully.”
It is safe to say that Ronaldo would be welcomed back with open arms at United but, logistically, a move would be incredibly difficult to pull off. Nevertheless, it’s fine to dream and the thought of seeing Ronaldo in a red shirt once again is a tantalising one.
