Morgan Schneiderlin delivered another convincing performance in the middle of the park in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory at Southampton on Sunday.
After not featuring against PSV Eindhoven last time out, the Frenchman was back in the starting XI against his old club and found life difficult to begin with after the hosts made an excellent start.
But after getting through the early pressure, Schneiderlin adjusted well, producing a typically stellar performance in the middle of the park.
100% passing accuracy from Schneiderlin in that first half. Solid effort on his return to Southampton #mufc

Silently but Morgan Schneiderlin was doing his job accurately. Winning the ball and passing to forward. #SOUMUN

Morgan Schneiderlin, quietly going about his job. Intersected lots of balls in the 2nd half. Darmian was disappointing today again #MUFC

Southampton fans know about Schneiderlin after his seven year stint at the club, and his performance – a composed, no-nonsense display – probably invoked a feeling of nostalgia for those who watched him turn into the stallion he is today.
Schneiderlin’s assured start to life at Old Trafford shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, since the midfielder was already established in the Premier League. And, judging from today’s performance, he’s only going to get better under Louis van Gaal.
