Predicted XI and Formation: Man United vs Ipswich

by Sam Peoples

Sergio Romero – Go on Sergio, you can have a go in goal again. We’ll give David de Gea a rest.

Antonio Valencia Matteo Darmian has been fantastic this season but this is the sort of game where you want to let him re-energise.

Chris Smalling – Manchester United will make plenty of changes but need some sort of stability in defence.

Paddy McNair – Hasn’t been given much opportunity this season, so it would be good to see him back in side.

Marcos Rojo – He needs to get regular game time at left-back if he is going to replace Luke Shaw.

Michael Carrick – Will marshall the midfield.

Ander Herrera – Why not?

Andreas Pereira – The main player who I am really excited to see in action is Pereira. He shone in pre-season, can he do it against Ipswich?

Memphis Depay – Would normally rest him for a fixture like this but he needs goals for confidence.

Ashley Young – He needs game time under his belt, should start.

James Wilson – Might have played 90 minutes for the U21s on Monday but if he doesn’t play against Ipswich, will he ever?

Formation – 4-2-3-1: Seems to be Louis van Gaal‘s preferred formation.
