Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has warned his teammates to expect a tough test against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.
Man United face Ipswich in the Capital One Cup looking to avoid a repeat of the humiliating 4-0 loss against MK Dons which knocked them out of the competition last term.
However, confidence is growing at Old Trafford following impressive wins against Liverpool and Southampton in recent weeks.
Mata insisted Ipswich will be no pushovers when the two sides meet.
“On Wednesday we start in the Capital One Cup against Ipswich Town,” the Spaniard said.
“They are a historic team in English football and I’m sure it won’t be an easy game for us. After that we play against Sunderland, they need the points and they will come to Old Trafford trying to win. We hope to play good and be successful on both games. It would be a joy for everybody.”
It is likely that Louis van Gaal will blood some young talent against Ipswich, which always increases the chances of an upset. However, the likes of Andreas Pereira, Paddy McNair and James Wilson should have enough to see off Mick McCarthy’s side, who are currently fifth in the Championship table.
