Pereira scored a sublime free-kick to put Man United 2-0 up against Ipswich Town in the Capital One Cup, before Anthony Martial finished off the job to send Louis van Gaal’s side into the fourth round.
The Brazilian was making his first start for United and it was well worth the wait, as he was one of the most exciting players on the pitch throughout. After starting the game well, Pereira was heavily involved and displayed his trickery and pace on numerous occasions.
He was never afraid to have a shot at goal either and when he was offered the chance to take a free-kick just over 20 yards from goal, the 19-year-old grasped the opportunity. Pereira’s effort got over the wall and back down again before nestling into the back of the net at the Stretford End, capping off a wonderful evening for the young attacker.

United fans were left disappointed when Louis van Gaal announced that there would be no place for either James Wilson or Jesse Lingard after the pair played for the club’s U21 side this week.
However, Pereira represented the youth perfectly in their absence, winning the Man of the Match award against Ipswich.
Supporters will hope that, having been drawn against Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the competition, van Gaal uses Pereira’s performance as a learning curve. It would be great to see the youth getting more of a chance, especially in the League Cup, and a home tie against ‘Boro could be the perfect opportunity for the manager.
